MuseumNext Announces London Museum Conference for 2018
We are pleased to announce that in 2018 we’ll be holding our annual European museum conference in London. The event which will take place at the Royal Geographic Society in South Kensington will be the tenth annual event, marking a decade since MuseumNext started.
The conference will once again take place over three days, with a discovery day to allow delegates to explore the city and meet each other followed by two days of conference at the Royal Geographic Society.
London is a great museum city and we are already talking with museums across the capital about how we can welcome the world, and showcase the very best that the city has to offer from the giants of South Kensington to the hidden gems which tourists normally don’t visit.
The conference days will feature only one stage, following the single track format that MuseumNext uses for its North American events.
Having a more focused programme will allow us to reduce the conference ticket price, with tickets for our London Museum Conference starting at £300 (£140 less than the cheapest ticket for our 2017 conference in Rotterdam).
London is a global city and we once again expect our European conference to be one of the most international events on the sectors calendar. Our 2017 conference brought together museum professionals from more than 35 countries with people travelling from Australia, New Zealand and South America to join us in Rotterdam.
MuseumNext Founder Jim Richardson said, ‘We are already excited about our London Museum Conference. This will be the tenth birthday of MuseumNext and the event gives us the chance to bring together all the people who we’ve met over the past decade. These are the individuals who are shaping what the future of the sector looks like and while the conference will always be about the future of museums, I expect that we’ll also reflect on how far we’ve come over the past ten years.’
Save the Date: The MuseumNext Europe conference will take place in London, June 18 – 21 2018.
MuseumNext started in 2009 when Jim Richardson invited American museum Director Nina Simon to the UK to run a two day unconference for museum professionals in Newcastle upon Tyne. This first event attracted just seventy people, but ten years later MuseumNext has grown to attract 1,500 delegates annually.
