Andrew Pace

Andrew Pace is responsible for Collections and Information Management within the Digitisation Unit of Heritage Malta, the national agency for cultural heritage and conservation. Andrew coordinates Heritage Malta’s collections management system and public catalogue portal, eMuseum, and data aggregation with Europeana. He has over 15 years’ experience working with digitisation and outreach projects in Malta and the UK in both institutional and community archive contexts.

Beyond 3D Models: Creating a Memory Twin for Malta’s Ġgantija Archaeological Park

What if a 3D model could preserve not just a monument, but everything we know about it? This presentation explores how Heritage Malta transformed the UNESCO-listed Ġgantija megalithic structure into a pioneering ‘Memory Twin’, a digital environment that embeds archaeology, conservation, research, storytelling and cultural memory. Moving beyond simple digitisation, the project demonstrates how enriched 3D models can become platforms for collaboration, knowledge preservation and public engagement.
