What’s a MuseumNext Conference Like?

A MuseumNext conference is designed to be inspiring, practical and easy to take part in. Everything happens online, so you can join from anywhere in the world without travel costs or time away from your museum.

Each event brings together museum professionals who are leading change in their fields. Presentations are short, focused and packed with ideas you can use straight away. You’ll hear honest stories about what worked, what didn’t, and what others would do differently next time.

All talks are streamed live, with opportunities to put your questions to speakers in real time. If you can’t join every session, or want to share the learning with colleagues, every presentation is recorded and available on-demand for a full year.

Above all, a MuseumNext conference aims to leave you energised, informed and connected — part of a global community of museum professionals who want to do things better.

Tools. Strategies. Real-World Inspiration

Hello, I’m Jim Richardson, founder of MuseumNext. I’ve spent over thirty years working globally with museums. My mission has always been to answer one question: “What’s Next?” for our sector.

Our community is founded on serendipity: museums from over 80 countries have met, connected, and inspired each other through MuseumNext events-and gone on to co-create exhibitions, technology solutions, and global networks.

With the Green Museums Summit, we turn that impact toward our planet.

More than 10,000 museum professionals have attended this conference over the past four years, and we’ve seen delegates go on to champion sustainability, launch exciting new public programs and build the environment into their exhibition programs.

Let’s close the gap between ambition and action. I’ll be with you every step of the way.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT MUSEUMNEXT...

The Green Museums Summit is the most valuable conference I’ve attended on museum sustainability and environmental responsibility. Every session offered practical insights we could apply to build more eco-friendly museum practices. It’s become an essential event for anyone working at the intersection of museums and the environment.

Jack Wallington

The Green Museums Summit helped our team rethink how we approach environmental education in museums. The case studies, speakers, and practical sessions made sustainability feel achievable. It’s the perfect event for anyone expand their knowledge on museums and the environment.

Charlotte Harris

A brilliant gathering for anyone passionate about the role of museums in climate action. The Green Museums Summit gave us ideas for new programmes centred on environmental awareness, community engagement, and sustainable futures. And I appreciate that I didn't need to step onto a plane to attend!

Beth Mahon

Did you know that virtual conferences are far greener than in-person events? By drastically cutting travel-related carbon emissions and removing the need for venue resources, they significantly reduce both the overall carbon footprint and waste.

But our commitment to sustainability doesn’t end there. We’re continually working to minimise the environmental impact of our work and to use our network as a force for good.
