The re-opening of the Museum’s Discovery Centre (MDC), a large-scale multi-institution visible storage facility and visitor centre, after a two year renovation closure, required the development of the learning program offer and engagement with school audiences to build awareness and participation. This presented the MAAS Education and Digital Learning Team with the opportunity to undertake a series of learning program ‘design experiments’.
In this presentation, the voices of the participating teachers and young people add to the project team’s report, reflections and recommendations.
What are the risks for a new museum in trusting school audiences to come up with the learning program, and is it worth taking?
