Transforming Museum Learning with Hīnātore Learning Lab

As of June 2017, Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand, was eighteen months into fundamentally transforming learning at Te Papa for schools and the public through exhibitions, school and public programmes, and Hīnātore Learning Lab.
This presentation outlines the museums strategy and approach of this transformation. Focussing on the development and early outcomes from Hīnātore as a site of innovative learning practice in museum context. Hīnātore provides an exciting case study of strategy, digital technology and staff development coming together to improve both staff and visitor learning & capabilities.
This presentations focuses on how Hīnātore enables the development of core competencies of collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking, as well as STEAM and personalised learning.
