The Estates Manager will be responsible for the management of properties belonging to Lakeland Arts and the Wordsworth Trust (Wordsworth Grasmere), two independent charitable trusts based in the Lake District National Park World Heritage Site. Along with Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery in Carlisle we form the Cumbria Museum Consortium, a National Portfolio Organisation funded by Arts Council England.
The purpose of this post is to ensure the sustainable, economic, and safe operation of our respective estates in a practical and organised manner. Whilst caring for our estates (which include Grade I and Grade II Listed buildings alongside new-builds utilising sustainable-technology) you will work with colleagues to ensure that they are, and remain, fit for purpose through monitoring, planning and development activities across buildings, mechanical and electrical, health and safety, security and ICT provision, whilst maintaining the heritage integrity of our Listed buildings.
Working with the Chief Operating Officer at Lakeland Arts and the Finance Director at Wordsworth Grasmere the postholder will develop a long-term vision for the organisations’ respective estates, whilst ensuring that each site is maintained to the very highest standards on a day-to-day basis. You will work with conservation architects, contractors, local planning, and conservation departments, as well as building relationships with other key partners, including the National Park. In line with Museum Accreditation requirements, you will also work with colleagues across departments to ensure that each site has an up-to-date Emergency Plan, operational manuals, and risk management procedures in place with regards to estate and facilities management.
This is a new post, combining previous estate/facilities management roles from each organisation.
