Your new organisation 

York Museums Trust is an independent charitable organisation created to manage York Art Gallery, York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum & Gardens, and York St Mary’s.  Our vision is to work together with audiences and communities to inspire, to share and to care for cultural heritage.  

Your new role 

We are seeking a HR Manager to manage and develop the HR and Health and Safety team so that it contributes to the Trust’s vision, mission and strategic priorities. With guidance from Head of Strategy, Finance and Corporate Services, you will draft, implement and deliver effective Human Resources (HR) strategy to ensure that YMT Business Plan outcomes are met. You will also provide expert HR advice in both organisational change processes and all staff related activities.  

You will be expected to ensure workforce and Board diversity targets are acted on and reported to Arts Council England, actively contribute to meeting the Trust’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion related objectives and outcomes, as well as work with managers and leaders to develop learning and CPD strategies that align with organisational needs and priorities  

What you’ll need to succeed 

You will need a CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent knowledge), together with substantial experience within a generalist HR Manger level role. A proven ability to contribute to the evaluation and development of HR strategy and performance is also essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of current employment law and best HR practice, with experience of liaising with trade unions.   

Having experience of delivering and championing organisational EDI initiatives would be an advantage and you will also need flexibility to embrace and support change in line with organisational needs and requirements.
