MuseumNext — 2016

Dublin, Ireland

In 2016, our European conference took place in the city of Dublin with museum professional from around the globe joining us for three days of activity in amazing galleries, museums, a historic house and a stunning events venue.

Delegates registered for the conference at the National Gallery of Ireland (NGI) who also offered various tours on topics such as conservation, a curator led tour on the exhibition Pathos of Distance and their works on paper collections.

A lecture programme and a whole host of workshops took place at NGI and the Royal Society of Antiquaries Ireland (RSAI). The Chester Beatty Library hosted the Creative Museum event and delegates enjoyed a hardhat preview tour of Epic Ireland, Dublin’s newest cultural venue.

Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane and Temple Bar Gallery and Studio opened their door to delegates to tour their buildings, there was a tour and talk at the Lab Gallery and the Little Museum of Dublin hosted the newcomers networking event.

Days two and three took place at the Mansion House with speakers including Marian Goodell, CEO at Burning Man talking about building inclusive, collaborative, creative culture; members of Rio’s stunning Museum of Tomorrow speaking about the tomorrow their museum is portraying, David Fleming, Director of National Museums Liverpool chatted with Jasper Visser on a range of topics, Michael John Gorman, CEO of Science Gallery International spoke about building the global Science Gallery network on his last day in the post before moving on to pastures new.

The Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Science Gallery Dublin hosted evening receptions.

Conference Programme
