Adriaan Baccaert

Adriaan Baccaert is Director of Engagement and Education at Kazerne Dossin. Trained as a historian and skilled as a polarization strategist, he coordinated the “Us versus Them” polarization project and co-curated exhibitions such as Universal Human Rights and Homosexuals and Lesbians in Nazi Europe.

Confronting Past and Present Fear at Kazerne Dossin

During this session, we will explore how Kazerne Dossin navigates the complexities of fear surrounding the Holocaust and human rights. As a museum, we often face the challenge of addressing the fear of speaking out, countering difficult truths, or even taking no stance at all. By striving not to be governed by its own fears, Kazerne Dossin remains grounded and open, inviting others into a space of dialogue, reflection, and understanding, while being mindful of the weight of history and personal experiences. Through engaging projects and respectful conversations, the museum aims to foster meaningful change.
