Alycia Gallagher

Alycia Gallagher is a born and raised Hamiltonian and has been involved with Hamilton Civic Museums since she was seven years old, volunteering at Battlefield House Museum & Park. She attended Brock University for History, and Willowbank School of Restoration Arts for Restoration Architecture. She has been working for Battlefield House in Stoney Creek for three years, and the Hamilton Military Museum at Dundurn National Historic Park for two years. She also provides tours for the Hamilton Cemetery alongside her father, and the Hamilton Civic Museums. She portrayed a ‘sad widowed soldiers wife’ for the Augmented Reality experience at the Hamilton Military Museum.

Exploring Hamilton’s Past, Present, and Future Through Augmented Reality

Getting started with A/R is easier with friends! This case study will explore the Experience Commons collaboration between Hamilton Public Library and Hamilton Civic Museums, detailing how both organizations were able to provide an engaging, accessible entry point for our audiences to engage with and do history through augmented reality. Experience Commons is an ongoing learning experience for staff and the public alike, as both organizations have build out capacity to not only share and animate resources, but crowd-source content to expand engagement and welcome new voices and perspectives.
