Fresh ideas from museums around the globe in your inbox each week
Anette Basso is a communications advisor at Kode, Norway’s second largest art museum, located in Bergen, the rainiest city in Europe.
She has always wanted to work in a museum, ever since she started her studies, and has been lucky enough to do so for the last 10 years.
She works with digital mediation, mostly directing and producing videos, in addition to podcasts and interviews. She worked as a freelance writer and critic before joining a communications agency. She has worked commercially and in media, later specializing in social media and digital content.
She has a Master’s Degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Bergen. Her academic background is varied, featuring museology, ethnology, folkloristics, art history, and media sciences.
Anette Basso will be speaking at the Museums & Social Media Summit 2026 :
What if the moment a museum closes its doors for renovation could become the moment it becomes most accessible?
Across Europe, cultural institutions are forced to shut their doors for rehabilitation of old building structures, and to protect the very heritage they exist to share.
For audiences, closure often means exclusion. For museums, it risks invisibility.
The Museum in Progress reverses this logic.
Instead of retreating behind scaffolding, we open the process itself. We turn conservation into storytelling, expertise into narrative, and closure into connection.
This is not just communication around a project. It is the project.
