Dr Aruna Bhaugeerutty

Aruna is Head of Digital Collections at the Ashmolean Museum, and Strategic Lead for museum digital collections at the University of Oxford.

In her role she has overseen the development of a digital strategy for Oxford’s collections, the digitisation and publication of the Ashmolean’s collection online, the overhaul of Oxford museums’ digital collection systems infrastructure and service, and research collaborations in areas such as machine learning and linked data.

Aruna is also a trustee of Collections Trust and co-chair of the national Collections Digitisation Network. As a consultant, she has provided specialist advice to a range institutions including the Wellcome Collection, Spencer Museum of Art and ART UK. She also holds an MA in Museum and Gallery Studies and a PhD in sound art and cultural theory from Newcastle University.
