Ayanna Muhammad studied Arts Education at Grambling State University before attaining Masters Degrees in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago and Heritage Preservation/ Museum Studies from Georgia State University.

Curating a museum dedicated to the preservation of the culture of Hip Hop was a main goal of hers upon moving to the DC, area after traveling the world as a spoken word artist and filmmaker under the name Red Summer.

Currently, Ayanna is the Lead Curator for the Hip Hop Museum DC and the traveling exhibit which will be touring both nationally and internationally. She also teaches Museum Studies at Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
