Catherine Abbott has over 20 years senior management experience across a variety of multi-disciplinary arts venues and programmes in Ireland, The United Arab Emirates, Oman and Morocco. Prior to joining IMMA, she held the position of Head of Programmes with Expo 2020 in Dubai for 2 years delivering a flagship visitor experience and educational programme.
From 2015 to 2018, she worked as Arts and Creative Economy Programme Manager, delivering UK/ UAE 2017; a Year of Bilateral creative collaboration on behalf of the British Council, working with organisations such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Tate Britain, and Louvre Abu Dhabi. She has also project managed two flagship gallery and studio developments: Stal Gallery and Studio in Muscat, Oman on behalf of the Alserkal Art Foundation in the Middle East and Luan Gallery, Athlone during her 12 years’ service as Westmeath County Art Officer.
