As Assistant Curator, Christeah oversees the care and maintenance of Historic Point Ellice House as well as the 12,000+ artefacts in the museum collection.
She holds a BA in Classical History and Anthropology as well as a Graduate Diploma in Cultural Resource Management from the University of Victoria.
Christeah employs her previous experience as a commercial archaeologist and as a conservation intern at the Royal British Columbia Museum in caring for the large collection.
She is passionate about storytelling, research, and discussing “untold” histories.
Christeah runs a small YouTube Channel where she discusses history and current events in the museum world.
Museum Work: A Labour of Love
Currently, museum work is a labour of love. To work in a cultural heritage institution is to take on extra responsibilities and to not get paid for the full value of one’s labour. Budget cuts and an ingrained lack of funding has resulted in a small community of very overworked professionals who are at the same time struggling to make ends meet. Let’s start a conversation and push for better work environments where we can do the work that needs to be done!
