Engaging Audiences on a Monumental Scale
The Line Hotel
The UK marked the centenary of the First World War with an innovative arts programme featuring 160 contemporary artists, musicians, film makers and performers. 35 million people engaged with the 14-18 NOW programme, which included a new 3D colourised film by ‘Lord of the Rings’ director Peter Jackson, artist Jeremy Deller’s extraordinary ghost soldiers project ‘We’re here because we’re here’ and an invitation by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle to mark Armistice with creative projects on beaches across the UK.
Claire will talk about how this new approach to marking national moments can engage audiences on a monumental scale, and will discuss the communications and marketing strategy behind some of the most successful events.
