Traces of the Wall

Since the demolition of the Berlin Wall in 1990, remembrance and commemoration of this border regime has focused on the various museums, memorials and monuments in and around Berlin. In the process, it is often forgotten that there are still other, unprotected traces of the Wall to be discovered in Berlin to this day that are not included in any travel guide. With the new tool “Mauerspuren” of the Berlin Wall Foundation, these traces are made accessible to the public and can be added to by users at the same time, documenting their existence or disappearance in the long term. The application is an online information portal that gives users an overview of what can still be seen of the Berlin Wall, the former border fortifications and the border regime in Berlin today.
