Cris Scorza

Cris Scorza is the Helena Rubinstein Chair of Education at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she leads innovative strategies that shape the future of museum learning. She directs interpretation, public programs, academic partnerships, and social impact initiatives connecting schools, youth, families, and communities. A champion of bilingual and Latinx engagement, Scorza is expanding the Whitney’s Spanish-language and access programs to foster equity and belonging. Drawing on experience at MoMA, the New Museum, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and MCA San Diego, she designs forward-looking programs that inspire inquiry, empower diverse audiences, and redefine how museums nurture creativity and civic connection.

Whitney Art and Wellness

How can museums support the well-being of healthcare professionals? Panelists will highlight the Whitney Museum of American Art’s partnerships with NYC Health + Hospitals, Arts in Medicine, and NYU Langone’s Empathy Project to integrate art into clinical training and staff care. Through facilitated gallery experiences, reflective discussion, artmaking, and writing, the Museum creates spaces for hospital staff to pause, recharge, and find meaning in their work. In collaboration with NYU Langone, the Whitney uses close observation, self-reflection, and perspective-taking to strengthen empathy and communication skills among medical students, faculty, and staff.
