Dominique is curator at Rijksmuseum Muiderslot. She has a background in cultural heritage with a master in gender studies. As curator she’s interested in (re)contextualising the Muiderslot collection; making space for new connections, inviting different perspectives and using history as a gateway into the future.
Art of Connecting
As a state museum, it’s our job to take care of and present our national heritage. We do this through exhibitions, guided tours and, of course, presenting our collection online. Although digitisation is an important way to open up our collection, it still heavily leans on exclusion; centralising our role as gatekeepers and taking the advantage point of advanced museum visitors. That’s why we not only want to digitise our collection, but completely let loose and create new connections through open linked data. Inviting anyone and everyone to use, experience, share, (co-)create and add to our collection.
