Dr Stefan Brandt


Dr Stefan Brandt has been Director of Futurium in Berlin since 2017. Futurium, which opened in September 2019, houses an exhibition, a workshop area and an event forum under one roof.

Prior to this, Stefan Brandt was from 2012 to 2017 Managing Director of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, a major German art museum. From 2004 to 2011, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey in Vienna. In 2004 he received his doctorate in musicology from the University of Basel.

During his studies, he was a scholarship holder and doctoral fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Stefan Brandt has been a member of the steering committee of the international network FORMS (Futures-oriented Museum Synergies) since 2020, in which numerous futures-focused institutions worldwide participate.

Since 2022, he has also been a member of the Expert Council of the Climate Change Center (CCC) Berlin Brandenburg, which is supported by the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Potsdam and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, among others.

In the winter semester 2023/24, he holds a teaching position at the Berlin University of the Arts.
