Erin Mathews is a multidisciplinary creative practitioner and artist based in Melbourne/Naarm. She has over 15 years of experience working in museums and galleries and was the Exhibition Project Manager for Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, hosted by Museums Victoria.

How do you take a boring* pile of ancient objects from the other side of the world and make visitors respond passionately and creatively?

This presentation will show how Melbourne Museum intentionally built creativity into its presentation of the touring exhibition Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard. Through exhibition design, adult-focused exhibition activities, and school programs, the speakers will show you how they created opportunities for creativity from both visitors and staff.
