Francesca Du Brock

Francesca Du Brock (she/her) is the Chief Curator at the Anchorage Museum. Her curatorial practice is informed by her background as an artist and educator and is grounded in social engagement, place-based storytelling, and environmental justice. Recent projects including How to Survive (2023), Black Lives in Alaska: Journey, Justice Joy (2021), Extra Tough: Women of the North (2020), and What, Why How We Eat (2018), focus on topics of care and climate, representation, Northern feminisms, food culture, and immigration. She holds a M.F.A. from the San Francisco Arts Institute, and a M.Ed. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.

Systems Thinking for Museum Sustainability

Sustainability work is multifaceted and ever-changing. Recognizing this, systems thinking at an organizational level can help bolster collaboration, build relationships, and empower staff at all levels to lead the work forward. In this session, Anchorage Museum team members from eight different departments share lightning-round insights into the challenges and successes, as well as the processes and practices behind our growth toward becoming a more sustainable institution. Filmed in the style of an emergency preparedness briefing video, this presentation aims to present humor as one of the many tools at our disposal to shift thinking and generate action.
