Gaetana De Gennaro

Gaetana De Gennaro (Tohono O’odham) manages Family and Youth Experiences overseeing the Museum Educators and the imagiNATIONS Activity Center at the National Museum of the American Indian in New York City.

She has worked at the museum for over 20 years. Being able to teach, share knowledge and bring awareness about the diversity of the Indigenous people of the Western Hemisphere to visitors is the most fulfilling part of her work.

Indigenous Games and Interactive Experiences at the National Museum of the American Indian

Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) imagiNATIONS Activity Centers are unique interactive exhibitions that provide in-depth hands-on learning about Indigenous cultures of the Western Hemisphere. NMAI Staff will share how they design their engaging programs with a virtual walk-through of the centers highlighting activities like Surf to Street Skateboard game to practicing balancing techniques needed to master a traditional Yup’ik Kayak from the Artic or do math like the early Maya people of Mexico.
