I am Dutch and have extensive expertise in software development and degrees in Business Economics (The Hague, NL) and Medieval History (Leiden University, NL).
Over the last twenty years I have managed digital research infrastructure projects. If that sounds a tad bit vague, consider this: modern academic research requires facilities – anything ranging from laboratories to libraries.
More and more of these are now virtual. I spend most of my working life organising, managing, and finding funds for the teams building research software systems for these virtual facilities.
I worked extensively in the fields of Social Sciences & Humanities, and the Cultural Heritage-sector, and often am the linking pin between various professions. I help people to work better together by teaching a shared language.
To that end I have facilitated many projects and workshops bridging between academic research, heritage specialists, and software engineers.
