Jeremy Ottevanger

Jeremy Ottevanger is a founder at The Museum Platform. He began managing an online museum of prehistory in 1999, and it quickly became a career building websites for museums. His role is to look at an organisation’s ambition, and bridge the gap between its systems and data, and the needs of its visitors.

How we brought together 14 (and counting!) museum collections into a coherent whole

The SWCE project is the first outing from The Museum Platform (and to the best of our knowledge, the first outing anywhere!?) which uses collections data from the Museum Data Service. This NHLF funded project aims to provide an entry point to museums in the South West, allowing them to showcase their collections within a coherent, beautifully designed whole. As well as the collections data, we’ve built in a user generated content modules which allows visitors to save their own lists, a simple mobile tour builder and more.
