Justine Boussard

Justine Boussard FRSA is a curator and storyteller with fifteen years’ experience working in the heritage and public art sectors with clients include the Design Museum, Crafts Council, Jane Withers and North East Museums. She founded the Amateur Ancestor Project to explore the role of museums in addressing the climate crisis from a cultural perspective. Through her programmes, participants from all sectors and walks of life get to expand their sense of time, reflect on how worldviews shape the way they live, think beyond silos and rediscover their sense of agency.

Equipping Young Audiences to Become Better Ancestors

Amateur Ancestor and Climate Museum UK member Justine Boussard will introduce you to ‘Generation Hope Newcastle’, a mind-expanding, time-travelling workshop that equips young people to become better ancestors using museum collections. Part museum tour and part citizens assembly, this workshop takes young people on a journey from the origins of humanity all the way to the year 2100, exploring food, energy and governance systems, and what it means to leave a positive legacy. The ability to think long term is an essential green skill for the 21st century, and museums are uniquely placed to teach it.
