Karina Esperanza Yánez

Karina Esperanza Yánez (she/ they) is an art educator with over 15 years of experience in education, encompassing roles from teaching to curriculum development in collaboration with museums and art galleries. As Educator for Youth & K-12 Programs at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Karina collaborates on the strategic development of programs before the museum’s opening, leveraging her deep expertise in working collaboratively with school communities and as a former classroom educator and teaching artist.

She holds two Graduate degrees: one from the Rhode Island School of Design in Art & Design Education with an emphasis on Community Arts Education and one from Sotheby’s Institute of Art at Claremont Graduate University in Arts Administration. She earned her BFA in Fine Art with a minor in Cultural Studies from the California Institute of the Arts.

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is under construction in Los Angeles. While we build, Education staff have been leaning in and listening to our future audiences through a formative evaluation Roundtable program. The Roundtable initiative hosts focus groups, community listening sessions, and classroom-based activities, with the goal of designing seamless and engaging museum-school programs.
