Kathryn Hunyor

Kathryn Hunyor is Head of International Tours at the Art Gallery of NSW Society, where she leads the World Art Tours and International Study Tours programs.

A Japanese-speaking curator and lecturer with a Masters degree in Japanese literature, Kathryn is formerly Head of Creative Programs at the Australian Design Centre (2004 – 2014), and Cultural Officer at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo (1999 – 2004).

For over 25 years she has curated art, craft and design exhibitions, public programs and learning experiences for a range of audiences, including children, adults, families and schools.

Many art museums have highly successful high school programs and educational activities that encourage students and teachers to come to their museum to engage with the art and the museum. But few have taken the next (big) step in engagement – taking their audiences overseas to understand the world of art, around the world!
