Kelly O’Reilly

Director
Milton’s Cottage

Kelly is the Director of Milton’s Cottage – only surviving residence of the visionary poet and parliamentarian, John Milton.  Central to her role is increasing income and audiences in order to protect this irreplaceable literary landmark for future generations.

She is particularly interested in delivering participatory projects within the cultural and heritage sectors and, in her former role as Co-Director of Sing London, brought pianos, ping pong and talking statues to the streets of London and beyond.

Commissioned by Sport England, as part of their Olympic legacy, Ping! places public ping pong tables in shared spaces across our cities, from pubs to parks, markets to museums.  It continues to be played by over 1 million participants annually.

Talking Statues combines drama, humour and mobile technology to give new voice to the public statues that surround us.  It has commissioned some of our best-loved writers and actors, from Patrick Stewart to Steve Carell, Shonda Rhimes to Roddy Doyle.

New Approaches to Storytelling

All hell’s broken loose at Milton’s Cottage! Expect demonic takeovers, avenging angels and epic battles as we share the augmented reality (AR) app that offers a new way to experience Milton’s only surviving residence.

He came here during a previous pandemic – the Great Plague of 1665 – to complete Paradise Lost. So it seems fitting that Milton’s Cottage has used the Covid-19 lockdown to create an entirely new take on his best-known work.

Join the Director of Milton’s Cottage, who commissioned the app, in conversation with the innovative AR team who have brought new life, and new stories, to the museum.
