Kenneth Wong See Huat

Kenneth Wong See Huat is a Malaysian curator, writer, and researcher whose work bridges heritage, contemporary art, and community engagement. He founded People Ideas Culture, a platform dedicated to cultural mapping and creative revitalisation across Malaysia. His projects—ranging from heritage walks in Kuala Lumpur and signage/mapping initiatives in Malaysian new villages to food-art festivals in Penang—foreground local memory, youth entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural dialogue. Kenneth serves on the board of ICOMOS Malaysia and is currently an Asian Cultural Council Fellow in New York (2025), with a focus on queer art and place-based curatorial research.

How can museums remain relevant in uncertain futures? Malaysian curator Kenneth Wong shares cross-disciplinary approaches rooted in community, memory, and food. His projects—such as Siam Reversed (a culinary memorial exhibition), Savour the Canvas (a tentative food-art festival in Penang), and digital cultural mapping/signage work proposal in a Malaysian new village, Jenjarom—demonstrate how overlooked stories can be activated through sensory experience and participatory design.
