Lakyn Cooper is a Senior Digital Producer at the National Museum of Australia. She’s excited by ideas that capture the minds of audiences in digital environments.
Since joining the Museum she has worked on projects with purpose on the web and produced a range of touch interactives for major exhibitions including Endeavour Voyage: The Untold Stories of Cook and the First Australians.
She holds a bachelor of Graphic Design from the University of Canberra and developed her digital expertise as an Account Manager at a creative agency where she was responsible for branding, web development, social media strategies and SEO projects.

The 2019/2020 bushfire season was the longest and most intense experienced in Australia’s history. Before it was declared over the first case of covid-19 was recorded in Australia. In response the National Museum of Australia launched two Facebook groups to begin documenting the events, and at the same time was developing Momentous. The online project asks users to share their stories of both events in an attempt to document the profound change. Craig and Lakyn discuss the development of Momentous and the work of museum staff in grappling with ethics of contemporary collecting and online audiences.
