Laurel Harrington

Laurel Harrington is KID Museum’s Director of School Engagement. She establishes and maintains deep relationships with school partners in the Museum’s region and now expanding nationally. Laurel is a former classroom teacher who uses her experience as a teacher to inform the Museum’s best practices in engaging teachers, students, schools and districts.

From Outreach to Deep Engagement: Beyond the One and Done Field Trip

KID Museum is dedicated to community engagement through equity and inclusion. As the Museum marks its 10th anniversary, we are able to distill our best practices in forming deep learning partnerships within our school district and now regionally and nationally. The Museum’s approach has always been to see schools, teachers and administrators as partners in developing impactful educational experiences that support students and teachers through a ladder of engagement, deepening that partnership every step of the way. This session will break down KID Museum’s approach to engagement from program design & delivery models to unique administrative and fundraising practices. All of which have successfully led to deep, year over year partnership, multi-visit and data-driven impact.
