Leslie McCue

Leslie McCue, a proud member of the Mississaugas of Curve Lake First Nation, brings a wealth of experience to her role as the Inaugural Manager of Indigenous Learning and Programs at ROM.

With a steadfast commitment to advocating for Indigenous programming and cultural awareness, Leslie has played a pivotal role in shaping transformative initiatives at the museum for over a decade.

Her leadership is exemplified by her role as a longstanding facilitator of Hack the ROM, where she adeptly integrates cultural expression with technology to promote community engagement and enrich learning experiences.

Beyond her work at the museum, she is a collective member of the International Indigenous dance collective – Odawa Wiingushk.

Hacking the ROM with Scratch, Twine, and Minecraft

Discover how ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) has been using Minecraft, integrating Indigenous Knowledges, and employing coding platforms to create interactive, dynamic learning programs that allow students across Ontario to connect with museum topics and collections in exciting new ways. ROM Minecraft uses the world’s most popular video game to create custom worlds that allow students to engage and explore museum topics and content in an immersive 3D world. In Hack the ROM, students are inspired by Indigenous Artistic and Cultural Belongings to program their own games or digital projects by coding with Scratch and Twine.
