Marina Borovaya

Marina Borovaya has worked in the cultural sector of Tromsø for the past 6 years and served as a sustainability consultant in various cultural projects.

She is one of the founders of Green Ice Camera – an initiative that offers tools and recourses for media producers to help them work sustainability in the Arctic region. She is currently leading the Green Transition project at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum.

Advancing Carbon Literacy in Museums: A perspective from the North

Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum has been chosen to pilot a carbon calculator specifically designed for museums. Located above the arctic circle, a place that is changing rapidly due to global warming and tourism, we aim to reduce our emissions and foster dialogue on sustainability and other pressing social issues.

By integrating carbon literacy into our strategy, we’re strengthening our commitment to climate responsibility and justice. The data we gather will guide us towards net-zero while highlighting the unique challenges faced in northern regions—related to infrastructure, ecosystems, and local communities.

Through this project, we bring a unique northern perspective to the global climate conversation.
