Art Uncovered: Stopping the Scroll

“Brain rot.” “Anxiety” dances. An unhinged Duolingo owl. In today’s social media landscape, people consume up to 100 posts a day and scroll past most in under three seconds. So how can a museum get noticed, let alone connect people to art history? At the National Gallery, we launched Art Uncovered, a social series that distills complex histories into human stories that hit home. These are stories you might not have heard in school—about BIPOC, LGBTQ, and women artists who overcame incredible odds to create beauty, truth, and change. Art Uncovered proves that art history deep-dives can still stop the scroll.
