Mathilde Chanvin

Mathilde Chanvin is the Art Engagement Officer for Portsmouth Museum Service, creating and delivering art and nature-based activities for a wide range of audience within the Museums and across the City.

Mathilde has an undergraduate degree in cultural studies and communication, as well as two Masters in Arts Management and in Research in Environmental Education.

She has previously delivered environmental education activities in France, Greece and Indonesia in various NGOs, then settled in Portsmouth where she was a learning support assistant in a school before pursuing museum engagement in Portsmouth.

Join Grace and Mathilde as they present the case study of Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery’s “Unlocking The Quietness of Feeling” art exhibition community programme. Explore how they engaged with residents around the city by bringing activities from the museum to their local parks and green spaces, in cemeteries and community centres- some of which by using the library service’s tuktuk! They’ll discuss the successes and challenges faced with integrating creativity, wellbeing and mindfulness with a broad audience, including toddlers, young carers, people with SEND needs, adults with dementia, FSM eligible families, and multicultural groups.
