Maya Herbolzheimer

Since 2017 Maya Herbolzheimer has been leading projects at Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) designed to engage and inspire under-served audiences. She has a particular focus on engagement with children and young people and believes in the power of museum collections to uplift and raise their horizons.

At RAMM, she works with students of all ages on co-created projects inspired by the museum’s themes of environmental responsibility, health and wellbeing, sense of place and untold stories.

Prior to working at RAMM, Maya was an Engagement Officer at the Pitt Rivers Museum and a Forest School Leader. She has also worked on youth programmes at Science Oxford and the Wildlife Trust.

Dartmoor Frame of Mind: helping young people discover life from a new angle

Discover how young people aged 12 to 18 benefited from engaging with creativity and nature through a mindful photography project. This museum project was co-designed with a charity specialising in art therapy and a leading photographer based on Dartmoor. This presentation gives practical tips on how to develop and deliver a similar project reaching out to young people living with mental health challenges. It shows the benefits of getting young people outside in nature, creating a supportive environment for young people experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges.
