Pippa Hale

Artist

Pippa Hale is a contemporary artist who makes large-scale, site-specific, often playable artworks in heritage venues, the public realm, galleries and museums. She works across a range of media that includes foam, inflatables, food, film, sound, iron, digital technology, neon and loaned objects often involving local people in the process of researching, making and – more recently – conceiving the artworks.

Her works are fun and playable but often reference deeper social, political and historical themes. Pippa has worked with Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art, Arts & Heritage, The Dickens Museum, Leeds City Council, Mirador Arts, Ripon Museums Trust and Left Bank Leeds amongst others. She is currently collaborating with Playful Anywhere on a new playable public art commission for Cambridge City Council and Cambridge Junction.
