Quentin Arné

Quentin Arné is a Museum Educator at the Val d’Oise Departmental Museums. He is responsible for programs and initiatives related to accessibility, as well as for engaging senior audiences, adult visitors, and people from the social sector. Quentin joined the museum team in 2024 following training in archaeological education. He is deeply connected to the history of the Val d’Oise region, where he has spent most of his life.

At the departmental museums, most visiting groups come from schools. The museums offer guided tours, and activities based on their collections. Quentin also delivers outreach programs in nursing homes, bringing the museum experience to those who can no longer travel independently. He also works to make the museum more open and inclusive through a universal accessibility approach, including the development of tools in simplified language and Braille.

Eat like a Roman! History is on the menu in local schools

For 15 years, French gastronomy has been protected as UNESCO world heritage, and French school lunches are famous world-around. Beyond traditional fare, many schools offer themed meals to their students and use this opportunity to introduce cuisines from all around the world. But while Geography has often been on the menu, History had yet to make an entrance.

For seven years, Val d’Oise Departmental Museums has been organising historic meals for school students whose menus are written and cooked by her local authority. This has created an opportunity for thousands of teenagers to experience the past in their plate. Her museum staff has created a range of play-based activities to enrich these meals and turn them into fun learning experiences.
