Rawdha Alabdouli

Rawdha Alabdouli is a graduate of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology and History of Art.  She is particularly interested in exploring the cultural heritage and archaeology of the Arabian Gulf and the traditions and customs that helped shape the cultural landscape of the region. She currently serves as an assistant curator at Louvre Abu Dhabi, overseeing the first galleries of the museum dedicated to the ancient world, which cover the period from prehistory to antiquity and showcase a diverse range of archaeological artworks. In her current role, she actively supports and assists the curatorial team in various tasks related to the research, display, and narrative content of the museum’s collection.

Additionally, she has been involved in the exhibition “From Kalila wa Dimna to La Fontaine: Travelling through Fables,” which focuses on the various traditions of animal fables. In this capacity, she worked closely with the exhibition curator to learn from her expertise and contribute to the curatorial relevance and production of this exhibition in Abu Dhabi. She has assisted with ensuring the cultural significance and contextual elements are appropriately highlighted in the exhibition, reflecting the region’s rich heritage and storytelling traditions.

In the exhibition From Kalila wa Dimna to Jean de La Fontaine: Travelling Through Fables at Louvre Abu Dhabi (From 26 March to 21 July 2024) we introduced an AI-powered Fables Generator, exploring how technology can reimagine fables.

The results? Fascinating, but we quickly realised that AI struggles to fully grasp the nuances of classic literature, especially when navigating the complexities of multiple languages and cultural contexts. Can a machine truly match the talent of a master storyteller?
