Ronald Czik is Director of Technology and Digital Strategy at the MIT Museum and a long-time lecturer in Computer Science at Boston University. With over 40 years of experience spanning software engineering, SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure, and mobile development, Ron brings deep technical leadership to the cultural sector.

At the MIT Museum, he leads digital strategy, AI experimentation, and systems modernization initiatives. His work bridges advanced technology and public engagement, helping museums responsibly integrate AI to enhance visitor experience, operational insight, and institutional impact.

What happens when museum interpretation becomes conversational?

At the MIT Museum, a live gallery experiment tested a multilingual conversational AI designed to extend the curatorial voice beyond wall labels and audio guides. Visitors could ask questions, explore ideas, and engage in dialogue about the exhibition content in real time.

In collaboration with MIT researchers, the project compared visitor behavior across conversational AI, traditional audio guides, and unguided visits.
