Creative Care: Art Therapy in Museums

As society has undergone seismic shifts over the past few years due to historic social and political events, we must ask ourselves how the work of museums should evolve to support our communities, particularly those that have been underserved. This presentation will review the development and implementation of an art therapy pilot program produced in collaboration between the Dallas Museum of Art and a Gender-Affirming Support Group, offering key insights and practical takeaways about how museums can strengthen their relationships with marginalised audiences through the lens of well-being and leverage their assets in meaningful and relevant ways.
