Susana Arias is the Head of Mediation at the CCCB. With more than 20 years of experience in the fields of culture and the humanities, she has been associated with the CCCB since 2010 by curating and coordinating numerous projects and envisioning and managing cooperation programmes with a variety of local and international institutions.

Learning Beyond Walls: Bridging Education and Culture at the Heart of the Community

What changes come about if a school moves a part of its activities into a cultural centre? What barriers are broken down and what relationships are created when we shift the foundations of our thinking and learning? “School in Residence” is an educational and community project that attempts to answer these questions by creating a permanent relationship between the CCCB and high complexity secondary school in the Raval neighbourhood (Barcelona). In this presentation, we highlight the learnings and challenges of fostering a unique educational experience that blends culture and creativity.
