Synthetic Memories

Synthetic Memories is a cultural initiative that recreates and preserves personal memories at risk of being lost through visual reconstructions. By converting spoken and written descriptions into images using Generative AI, it contributes to reminiscence therapy, mental health recovery, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

The project has partnered with cultural centers like the Design Museum in Barcelona and Casa do Povo in São Paulo, involving local communities and training young interviewers. Recently, the initiative opened the Citizens’ Office of Synthetic Memories in Barcelona, offering a collective exhibition and public space to recover and celebrate the city’s intangible cultural heritage.
