From Labels to Conversations

What happens when every visitor can point their phone at an object and immediately start a guided conversation, in their own language, with content the museum can trust?

Join Birmingham Museums Trust and Tellme as we explore what it takes to deploy a conversational, AI-powered digital guide on the gallery floor. Drawing on live visitor usage at Thinktank Museum, we share how computer vision and conversational interfaces can enhance self-directed visits, while remaining firmly under curatorial control. Attendees will hear honest lessons from rollout, visitor behaviour, and governance, and see how AI can support museum goals without compromising values.
