MuseumNext has announced that the Green Museums Summit will return on 25–26 February 2026, bringing together museum professionals from around the world to explore how cultural institutions can lead the way on sustainability.
Launched in 2021, the summit has quickly established itself as a vital platform for sharing best practice in sustainable museums. Past editions have featured inspiring contributions from global leaders such as the V&A, Guggenheim, Getty, MoMA, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The event is delivered entirely online, making it not only accessible to a worldwide audience but also environmentally friendly by removing the need for travel. Over two days, attendees will hear museum sustainability case studies that spotlight innovative green museum practices, ambitious net zero strategies, and creative approaches to embedding the UN SDGs in museums.
“This is one of my favourite MuseumNext events each year,” said MuseumNext founder Jim Richardson. “The passion and creativity that museums are bringing to sustainability is truly inspiring. The summit gives professionals a chance to learn from each other, share ideas, and feel part of a movement that is making real change.”
With the climate crisis continuing to pose urgent challenges, the 2026 programme will highlight climate action in museums through examples of exhibitions, partnerships, and initiatives that are driving awareness and change.

“From energy-efficient buildings to exhibitions that spark public dialogue, museums are showing that they can be leaders in sustainability,” added Richardson. “The Green Museums Summit is where you’ll see those ideas in action. It’s a brilliant event for anyone who cares about the future of museums and the planet.”
Tickets for the Green Museums Summit 2026 are now available, offering museum professionals worldwide an opportunity to gain practical insights, connect with peers, and be inspired to take action.
